Heating repair, back to warm

Northridge HVAC repairs reverse cycle systems, ducted heating and gas heaters in homes across Parramatta and Western Sydney, with the price agreed before work starts.

Why is my heater blowing cold air?

A reverse cycle system blows cool air for a few minutes during a defrost cycle, which is normal on cold mornings. If it never warms up, the cause is often a dirty filter, a low refrigerant charge, a faulty reversing valve or sensor, or a thermostat set to the wrong mode. Gas ducted heaters that will not light usually have an ignition, flame sensor or gas supply fault.

A Northridge HVAC technician checks controls, airflow, electrical parts and, on gas units, the burner and flue. Gas appliances are repaired by a licensed gasfitter and refrigerant work is done by an ARCtick-licensed technician.

What should I check after a heating repair?

Let the heater run for an hour and walk through each room to feel the airflow. A faint dusty smell the first time a heater runs for the season is common and fades quickly. A burning or electrical smell is not: switch the system off at the isolator and call us.

Common questions

A reverse cycle heater blows cool air for a few minutes while the outdoor unit defrosts, which is normal. If it never warms up, Northridge HVAC checks the filter, refrigerant charge, sensors and reversing valve.
